Parenting Communities is a program provided by the citizens of Leelanau County (through the 2019 EC millage) and the Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department. Parenting Communities of Leelanau County seeks to promote healthy children living in stable, nurturing families, supported by strong communities that provide comprehensive supportive services.
The goal of Parenting Communities is simply to help us all be the parents we dream of being!
Our work is grounded in the Protective Factors Framework. Protective factors are characteristics or strengths of individuals, families, communities or societies that act to mitigate risks and promote positive well-being and healthy development. Most often, we see them as attributes that help families to successfully navigate difficult situations.
Parenting Communities offers multiple ways to engage with us depending on your interests and needs. Our goal is to connect with every family in Leelanau County with children aged 0-6, through one or more of the following offerings:
If you are a family living in Leelanau County with a child in your household between the ages of zero and 6, fill out our Participation Form to select what activities you are interested in, or to simply sign up to receive our monthly electronic newsletter.
Are you interested in helping us out? Parenting Communities is always looking for help with our community events. Fill out this Volunteer Interest Survey to start the process!
