Public Health Nurse

As a Public Health Nurse, you’ll work with families across the lifespan through our Women, Infants and Children (WIC), Maternal-Infant home visiting, and Immunization programs.  You’ll educate, support and empower individuals in our community. 

This is a full-time position based primarily in Benzie County, with occasional travel to our Leelanau County office.  

We are looking for someone who: 

  • Is a Registered Nurse 
  • Has at least 1 year of experience in maternal-child health, immunizations, and/or public health. 
  • Provides exceptional customer services and enjoys building trusted relationships with families, coworkers, and community partners. 
  • Is organized, adaptable, and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment. 
  • Is passionate about improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

Public Health Technician

The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department is seeking a dedicated, organized, and people-focused Public Health Technician to support our clinical services team.

In this role, you will help ensure our clients receive friendly, efficient, and professional support. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting clients, scheduling appointments, navigating electronic medical records, supporting insurance processes, maintaining confidential information, and helping coordinate community outreach events.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Professional telephone etiquette
  • Comfort using multiple computer systems, including Microsoft Office 365
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screening (including THC)

Highly Desired Experience:

  • Medical office or healthcare setting
  • Insurance processes
  • Electronic medical records
  • Handling confidential or sensitive information
